Best decade ever...so far!

This past week has been busy but pretty wonderful. It was my 30th Birthday! There was a little crying, but more rejoicing. I had a blast and everyone made it truly special, including my wonderful Husband who is the sweetest ever. Ok so for the exciting part...my birthday present.

are you ready?

!

LOVE

(incase you don't know what this is, it's a Silhouette SD, it cuts every silhouette known to man into paper, vinyl, fabric...you get the picture)

I am very pleased with this birthday present.
I have already played around with it A LOT, and have many cards I need to make this month for Birthdays and Mother's day, so it will come in handy.

So far I have created a little art for myself into this cute (thrifted) frame.

The bird on the branch was cut from patterned paper and glued onto another piece of paper.
The design was downloaded from the Silhouette store.
I am utterly happy and can't wait to make so many other cool things with this wonderful machine.

(I am not affiliated with Silhouette America in any way)

Tabletop re-do

I've had this table for a while. It's a very common style, kinda plain, butcher block-ish top. It was free though, so I'm not complaining. About a year ago, I had painted the legs white. I left the top as is because I was unsure about what I wanted to do with it.
Last week I was inspired to give staining a try (my very first time)...and probably last.

This was the table before:
isn't the artwork beautiful? It's also all over my walls...

...
Here is the after:

It's not super perfect, but I'm happy with it, and HEY LOOK - It matches my beautiful
dining cabinet I got a few weeks ago at the habitat re-store.

The chairs are still a bit awful, which is why they aren't pictured.
One step at a time.

let there be light

I know, it's another lamp makeover. What can I say...I need LAMPS! This one just happened to be 5.99 at Goodwill. The shade, I purchased at Walmart, it was a splurge (at walmart...HA). I really am cheap.

Ok here is the before :Yucky nasty lamp base
(my husband seems to think it wasn't so bad, but I couldn't deal with the rust and brassiness)

Here is the glorious after: pretty white

It brings me great joy and great light.

Mobile blogging

I've been looking for a great app to update my blog from the phone. I came across blogpress in the iPhone app store. It seems wonderful so far.

On a side note:

You can find the cutest vintage buttons on some of the most hideous clothing found in thrift stores.

old wooden child's desk

This sweet little child's desk was a $20 garage sale purchase. It is absolutely charming and so rustic. I will probably not be painting this one.

a few lovelies

I like when I am able to purchase things that make me utterly happy every time I look at them.
Here are a few of my favorite thrift finds.

Isn't this a beauty!
I found it at a habitat for humanity re-store for $99.
My dad in law did a little work to bring it back to life.
I absolutely love it.

These sweet little candlesticks used to be brass.
Not that there's anything wrong with that; but it's not really my thing.
They are now gorgeously light turquoise.
$6 for the set.

These might not strike everyone's fancy.
I, however fell in love with them.
I originally bought them ($3) to smother in a coat of white or turquoise paint.
...but after taking them home, I decided they are cute as they are.
Excuse the hideous purple wall behind them (I would like to change that asap)

$4 Lamp gone cutesy

I adopted this lamp from a local thrift store for $4. I got so excited to start ripping up the shade that I neglected to take a before picture of it...but

The covering of the shade was similar to this.

...and this was the base. Cute lines but kinda boring.

I already had the paint and fabric in my stash, so no extra money spent!
The lamp now lives happily in my daughters room.

The dresser it is sitting on is a future project...please stand by

I love it. I'm sure my daughter loves it too, and if she could talk she would tell me so.

Share the Bliss

Hello internet world. Ever walk into a store and feel warm and fuzzy, have a sensation of being on cloud 9, or even have a heightened moment of euphoria? When I walk into a Thrift Store I feel some of that stuff. I don't believe it's weird but I could be completely wrong. I could even say certain items I might find in a Thrift store are similar to my children...in that...They may smell funny, but they are pure treasures.
I also love garage sales and craigslist and good ol' fashion Free. I'm not bias.
